GO FOR IT! (GFI)
A WINTER TEEN LEADERSHIP RETREAT

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Held annually over Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend, the Go For It (GFI) Conference is a transformative three-day experience designed to inspire and equip the next generation of servant leaders. Through guided reflection, personal discovery, and skill development, teens engage in meaningful discussions, interactive small group activities, and team-building exercises that strengthen their leadership abilities and deepen their understanding of their own values.
GFI provides a rare and welcoming space where students can be their authentic selves, form lasting connections with peers from across Kentucky, and return home empowered to lead with confidence in their schools, communities, and beyond.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT CURRICULUM
Throughout GFI, students engage in dynamic activities centered around our five pillars of character development: Responsibility, Relationship Building, Emotion Management, Empathy, and Personal Development. These experiences challenge participants to grow as individuals and leaders while connecting with peers in meaningful ways.
Through hands-on activities and guided discussions, students will:
- Explore their personal values and leadership style
- Build and strengthen relationships with peers
- Set meaningful personal and leadership goals
- Participate in interactive games and team challenges
GFI offers an engaging and supportive environment where students develop essential skills, build confidence, and leave with a renewed commitment to leadership and service.
WHY ATTEND GFI?
After attending GFI, students demonstrated growth in key areas of personal and leadership development, including:
- Confidence in building lasting relationships
- Greater self-awareness and understanding of their identity
- Stronger clarity in their goals and ambitions
GFI empowers students to leave with a deeper sense of purpose, stronger connections, and the skills to make a lasting impact in their communities.
