YKAP 2022 COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocols
The health and safety of our participants has been, and always will be, our top priority.
Updated Oct. 14th, 2022
The Kentucky YMCA Youth Association is excited to host GFI and will do everything possible to ensure the health and safety of all participants. Know that participants will be participating in many activities that can involve increased risk for the transmission of COVID-19 to some degree. While we will adhere to CDC guidelines, participants are attending at their own risk. Participation is purely voluntary, and the Kentucky YMCA Youth Association can not be held responsible if a participant contracts COVID-19 or is exposed.
We intend to comply with guidelines and recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Camp Association, YMCA of the USA, as well as our state and local health departments to ensure we provide the healthiest environment possible. This kyymca website will be updated as guidelines may change.
Pre-Session Protocols
In order to attend the final 2022 YKAP session, participants must
- Complete a pre-trip health screen.
Note: Y-Staff will continue monitoring community levels and recommendations and will keep participants updated should masking needs change. Any students with a medical reason for not wearing a mask should provide documentation from a doctor to Y-Staff. We also ask that anyone with a valid mask exemption maintain a 3ft distance from others while at the session.
A pre-session health screen will be sent before the conference and is required to attend.
Participants’ families will also be asked to complete a health questionnaire to assess the potential exposure of the participants to the COVID-19 virus. If a participant shows symptoms right before arriving at the session, they will be asked to stay home.
COVID-19 vaccinations are NOT required to attend the session. We ask that students DO show proof of vaccination if vaccinated, so that we are following CDC recommendations in the event a quarantine is needed. It is incredibly important that the KY YMCA has each participant’s most accurate emergency contact information should we need to contact a parent or guardian in the event of a COVID-19 exposure, or if your teen tests positive (or shows symptoms) for COVID-19.
YKAP Session Protocols
- Masks are currently required based on community level. Should that change, participants will be updated.
- Per our sick policy, if a student begins experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or tests positive that student will be quarantined, and arrangements will be made for guardians to pick the student up from the session.
- Youth and adults will be encouraged -- and provided with opportunities -- to wash their hands frequently and use the hand sanitizing stations as needed.
