Jim is a Louisvillian, born and raised. He graduated from Atherton High School and went on to get history degrees from the University of Louisville and University of Kentucky and a masters in teaching from Spalding University. He worked as a classroom teacher for JCPS for 15 years, teaching history, government and politics, and geography at the Honors, AP, and IB levels.
Jim’s connection with the KY YMCA Youth Association started when students at Atherton asked him to be their Y-Club advisor. He has participated in 20 conferences as an advisor and counts his work with his Y-kids as one of the most rewarding parts of his teaching career.
Now he is ready to start a new career as West Regional Coordinator. He is excited to start traveling across his beloved state of Kentucky and hopes to use his experience as a teacher and Veteran Y-Advisor to support active schools and get new schools and Student YMCA Chapters involved with Youth and Government in the Commonwealth.
