Students Are Our Primary Focus

If you are a Kentucky middle or high school student, you have come to the right place. The Kentucky YMCA Youth Association has provided civic, social outreach, leadership and character development training since 1890. Over 10,000 students from across the Commonwealth participate in our annual programs.

STEP 1:  JOIN STUDENT Y* 

We encourage all of students to become a Student Y member. Through this program you will connect with a local chapter, receive discounts on programs, access online resources, attend member-only events, and be able to purchase exclusive merchandise! Learn more here. 

*Student Y memberships are not required to participate in our programs. If you choose not to become a member, continue to Step 2. 

STEP 2: CHECK OUT OUR PROGRAMS

From engaging in social outreach projects to participating in a mock United Nations Assembly, we offer a full spectrum of leadership and character development programming. All of our programs are designed with you, the student, as the primary customer.  We put you first, because you are what counts. We are merely here to guide and provide platforms for your to shine.  

KUNA

Kentucky United Nations Assembly (KUNA) is a 3-day conference in which 6th - 12th graders participate directly in simulated international diplomacy.

KYA

The Kentucky Youth Assembly (KYA) is a 3-day immersive educational opportunity in which middle and highs school students serve as part of a model state government.

Y-Corps

Y-Corps is a service-learning program for 7-12th grade students who want to make a difference in their communities, the  Commonwealth and the country.

LTC

Leadership Training Conference (LTC) is a 4-day, FUN-filled, conference for 6th - 12th graders that builds servant leaders through a focus on personal discovery and skills development.

Go For It (GFI)

Go For It (GFI) is a three-day inspirational and motivational character development teen leadership retreat for 6th - 12th graders.

YAL

Youth Advocacy Leaders is a team of student leaders who create positive change in Kentucky by actively seeking opportunities to network and create a collaborative voice for change.

Student Y

Student Y is a student-led program for middle and high school students (grades 6-12) interested in making an impact in local and global communities.

YKAP

Young Kentuckians Advocacy Program is a statewide advocacy training program for students grades 6-12 to expand their abilities to make a positive change in their state and local communities.

National Conferences

Delegations of Kentucky high school students are annually represent the Commonwealth at national YMCA Youth and Government conferences.
